Lipstick on the Collar May Linger a Little Longer
Cheating spouses now have it easier than ever. Their biggest asset: modern technology.
The fact that cheating is now easier than ever is a good thing—for the betrayed. Reason being, the very tool that the cheater uses to cover his tracks can also be the biggest pitfall in the master plan to keep their infidelity a secret from the unsuspecting loyal partner; the strongest link in the chain that will connect the dots and get the innocent party the answers and peace of mind they deserve. Online spousal infidelity is one of the largest sources for domestic problems and causes a lot of stress to the family unit.
Lipstick on the collar in its original form can be washed off, without a trace left behind, providing the bleach is strong enough. Electronic lipstick on the collar, however, doesn’t go away quite so easily.
Most of us nowadays use the Internet constantly. It has become as commonplace as the TV, if not more so. The same holds true for cell phones; people can communicate on the go, wherever they are, and get information about whatever they want in just seconds.
Email, cell phones, the Internet, and the like provide convenient communication tools and easy access to information, sure, but they also provide easy access to communication between lovers that might not appear overt—at first. Cheating husbands and wives can lie to their partner regarding their whereabouts, communicate with lovers while out of the house, and out of the viewing range of their betrothed, and/or right under their nose with a computer screen, whether in a chat room, via email, or social media.
Computer forensics, email tracing, cell phone forensics, and other forms of similar investigation are very useful in tracking down information that the adulterer may think is well-hidden, or has been deleted. Just as there are many complex layers of lies in love triangles, there are many complex layers of electronic communication, much of which stay behind even when all evidence is thought, by a layperson, to have been deleted or destroyed. If there is any doubt in your mind, it may be worth your time to look into computer forensics to catch your cheating partner.
